Super Spell Babies - Mobile game

Context:
I designed the visuals for Super Spell Babies, a playful mobile word game. Collaborating with developer Julian Dietz, I created the logo, UI elements, and customizable characters. The vibrant design features intuitive layouts and expressive characters, offering players a fun and imaginative gameplay environment.

Objective:
The objective was to create a visually dynamic, playful, and imaginative mobile game experience for Super Spell Babies, a wordplay-based game with engaging character battles. The game needed to be accessible to players of all ages while offering rich customization options to retain long-term player enthusiasm. The design needed to reflect the game’s playful nature and draw users into a visually cohesive world.

I led the visual design process, collaborating with game developer Julian Dietz, who handled the gameplay mechanics and level design. My responsibilities included designing the game’s logo, UI elements, characters, and creating a customizable visual identity for the game’s non-human baby characters.

Solution:
The game’s visual design features a vibrant color palette, geometric shapes, and playful characters designed to inspire joy and enhance the player experience. The Super Spell Babies logo was crafted using letter tiles, with the "babies" part intentionally skewed to reflect the playful and chaotic nature of the characters. The logo can be used in both full and simplified versions, depending on the application.

Key game screens, including the start screen, spelling screen, and character selection screen, were designed with intuitive layouts to ensure players quickly understand the gameplay. Character expressions such as happy, angry, and disappointed were developed to add emotional depth and enhance engagement. A wide variety of customization options for the baby characters were also created, offering playful features like "Milk Teeth," "Elf Ears," and many more.

Outcome:
The final design successfully balanced simplicity for mobile users with rich, engaging visual elements, encouraging both creativity and accessibility. The customizable characters, colorful world, and interactive UI elements provide a fun and mentally stimulating experience for players. The game’s imaginative and cohesive visual identity sets it apart, with animations adding curiosity and entertainment at every stage of gameplay.
